Joana Rosa Bragança
Joana Rosa Bragança is an artist and illustrator based in Olhão, a resilient town located in Algarve, Portugal's southernmost part and a kingdom without a king. She has degrees in both Painting and Illustration, and her artwork has been shown in solo and collective exhibitions in Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic, USA and Canada, as well as being featured in select books, fanzines, and magazines. She has won a Merit Award and an Honourable Mention for 3x3 Professional Show (2016) and other Honourable Mentions, including one for Art Books Wanted (2013).
Inspired by a dreamy universe, and shaded by wit and warm humour, her characters are drawn from living beings — plants, people and playful animals — and are often mixed with local folktales.
